Gundy (Eileen Sheen) Khouw grew up in New York City with many opportunities to enjoy early exposure to museums and theater. She studied French Literature, History and Philosophy. While living in France and Spain, she studied languages and art history. After graduate school, she taught French in High School and Middle School and ESL to adults. Art was always a source of happiness. Whenever possible, Gundy took classes and workshops in landscape painting, figure and animal drawing, etc.. With children grown, there was time to paint. Evelien Bachrach Seeger’s challenging watercolor classes at the Sharon Arts Center continue to inspire her. She is now learning oil painting with Numael Pulido in Hancock, NH. She is a member of Lone Mountain Artists, a group which exhibits to raise money for conservation education and community endeavors. She lives in Greenfield, NH with her husband and several animals.
For me, painting is a way to slow down to better appreciate the beauty and surprises of the natural world. Painting with friends increases the enjoyment, learning and growth that come with shared endeavors. Although a diverse group, we share the goals of learning and working together and contributing to our communities. We donate a portion of anyu proceeds from our exhibits to support local efforts in conservation education, beautification and disaster relief.
